Lawson City Lake

Annual Prospects Report

This 25-acre lake located on the north side of Lawson is a great place to wet a line.  2018 surveys indicate a highly stockpiled largemouth bass population with lots of fish in the 12-15" range.  The crappie population also looks to be rebounding with good size on the white crappie and a large year class of black crappie coming through the system this year.  The newly installed brush piles throughout the lake will help congregate fish, improve catch rates, and are within easy casting distance from shore.   Bluegill are very numerous and are good size of lots of 7-8" fish.  Channel catfish are also very numerous and should make for an easy target for fishermen.  The old submerged dam in front of the jetty is a good place to start.   This lake has undergone some major renovations in 2017.  When you visit the lake, you will be greeted with a new parking lot, new restroom facilities, new fishing jetty and a spacious covered fishing dock.  The lake also has ample mowed shoreline and a trail that goes all the way around the lake, making it easy access to take a kid fishing.
