Lower Roaring River

Annual Prospects Report

Roaring River downstream of the developed area of Roaring River State Park is stocked with rainbow trout and brown trout. The area of the trout park designated as Zone 3 and the mile of stream immediately below the park were surveyed in 2011. Both rainbow and brown trout were present in good numbers and an array of sizes. Rainbow trout 14 to 17 inches in length were captured indicating some carryover with growth occurring. These fish would be more wary and focus on natural prey items providing more of a challenge to anglers. Brown trout as large as 24 inches and over seven pounds were observed during sampling. Lower Roaring River is managed as a White Ribbon Trout Area.
